The aura he exuded calmed the overly excited crowd, allowing them to control their hard-earned abilities.
Only then did Tong Sui hear their enthusiastic remarks: “Teacher Tong Sui, your research results are truly magnificent!”
“Indeed, I’ve never felt this healthy before!”
Tong Sui glanced around briefly; everyone looked significantly better than before, with their wounds vanished.
He let out a sigh of relief.
At that moment, a group of ability users stormed into the shanty town.
“What time is it? Why aren’t you all working? Don’t you want to stay at the base anymore?”
As they spoke, they began to smash and break things, oblivious to the changed atmosphere around them.
Their habitual arrogance blinded them from consideration.
Watching the tents that offered them shelter from the rain being torn apart, leaving dirty footprints everywhere, the first-time ability users felt tears sting their eyes.
The energy flowing within them urged them to no longer retreat in silence.
This time, they would not be suppressed again.
As a result, the first person took action, and the others followed suit without hesitation.
Tong Sui heard someone remind, “Mr. Tong Sui, let us escort you away first; we wouldn’t want you to get hurt.”
“No need,” Jiang Hua replied, “he has me beside him. Just go back; the results will come soon.”
With Jiang Hua by his side, it was indeed the safest place to be.
Upon returning to the apartment, Tong Sui felt somewhat out of sorts. “Is it really okay for us to just leave like this?”
His mind was still stuck on the events of last night, and uncertainty loomed—could someone used to being bullied truly rescue themselves?
Noticing Tong Sui frowning, Jiang Hua reached out to massage his brow, saying, “You’ve already done enough for them; don’t think about the rest.”
Tong Sui was pulled back to attention by his gestures.
Indeed, he had been busy with this matter.
They hadn’t had a proper chance to be together since reuniting.
Last night, they could only curl up in the car to sleep. Jiang Hua even stayed up all night for it. Tong Sui had fallen asleep, but not well.
His body was still weak; the inadequate rest from last night left him feeling dizzy.
Tong Sui didn’t hesitate and directly suggested, “Captain Hua, let’s sleep together.”
Jiang Hua was taken aback. “Are you inviting me?”
“Huh?”
Tong Sui gazed into his deep blue eyes, recalling his own words, and his cheeks flushed.
“I—I didn’t mean it that way, I meant just sleep.”
Jiang Hua chuckled lightly, his gaze carrying a hint of amusement.
The blush on Tong Sui’s face was irresistibly adorable.
Unable to help himself, Jiang Hua leaned over and nuzzled the warm cheek.
Tong Sui realized he was teasing and swiftly grabbed his clothes, darting into the bathroom.
Jiang Hua was intentionally provoking him.
How mischievous!
Flushing with anger, Tong Sui scrubbed himself vigorously in the shower, applying more force than usual, leaving his originally fair skin slightly red.
After finishing his shower, Tong Sui opened the door.
Jiang Hua was sitting on the edge of the bed, eyes closed, arms crossed, lightly resting against the headboard.
Tong Sui tiptoed closer, thinking he made no noise, and approached Jiang Hua quietly.
He remained with his eyes closed.
Tong Sui carefully studied Jiang Hua’s face, with its well-defined brow bone and deep-set eyes. His eyelashes weren’t pure black; they carried a hint of brown, only noticeable upon close inspection.
With his eyes closed, Jiang Hua looked somewhat more approachable than usual.
But only slightly.
When was Jiang Hua the gentlest?
It seemed like it was after he had kissed him too fiercely and then pulled him closer to comfort him…
Lost in thought, Tong Sui was caught off guard as Jiang Hua suddenly opened his eyes and pulled him in.
The next second, Tong Sui’s back hit the soft mattress, startling him.
Still in shock, he was pinned down with Jiang Hua effortlessly gripping his wrist.
Though the mattress was soft and Jiang Hua controlled his strength well, Tong Sui felt cornered and helpless.
Blushing, he asked, “Did I wake you?”
“I was never asleep.” Jiang Hua leaned in closer to his neck, his nose lightly brushing against it, “What did you use? Why do you smell so good?”
Tong Sui’s eyelashes quivered as he honestly replied, “It’s all your shower gel.”
“Is that so?”
Jiang Hua moved even closer; at an angle where Tong Sui couldn’t see, his thin lips brushed gently against Tong Sui’s slightly damp hair, resting against his delicate skin behind the ear.
He seemed fixated on that spot, like a wolf stalking its prey, unwilling to easily let go. He even provocatively remarked, “Why do I smell something different?”
Tong Sui felt his eyelids heat up from Jiang Hua’s affectionate touch, and his breathing became deeper. After hesitating for a long time, he could only whisper, “I don’t know…”
“Then I need to check,” Jiang Hua said with a meaningful tone, “to see what the issue is.”
Tong Sui anxiously nodded.
Observing everything, the system was taken aback.
It was just a cute couple’s game of affection—what more excuse did they need? Only Tong Sui would let Jiang Hua talk nonsense.
If it were the beginning of their world, the system would likely have reminded Tong Sui to keep a distance from the task target. However, having gained rewards from two worlds, the system’s heart had turned as hard as a blade.
Whether or not to be in love was irrelevant; the points were what mattered most.
It added a layer of pixelation, feeling right back at home again.
